The sudden demise of legendary Indian filmmaker Yash Chopra, who shot many actors including Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan to fame, has left the film fraternity in grief. He was the man behind many blockbuster and romantic films, earning him the title "King of Romance".

During the five decade-long stint in the film industry, he worked with actors belonging to several generations - from Amitabh Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan to Anushka Sharma and shaped their careers. He was not only an inspiration to aspirant filmmakers but also molded the acting careers of many actors.

Yash Chopra, who recently announced retirement from films, did not live to see his lasy directorial film, "Jab Tak Hai Jaan", starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, which is scheduled for release this Diwali on November 13, but his works will be remembered by the people.

In his career lasting over five decades, Yash Chopra directed over 20 films, including "Dhool Ka Phool" (1959), "Dharmputra" (1961), "Waqt" (1965), "Deewar" (1975), "Kabhi Kabhie" (1976), "Trishul" (1978), "Chandni" (1989), "Lamhe" (1991), "Darr" (1993), "Dil To Pagal Hai" (1997) and "Veer-Zaara" (2004).

He started his own production house, Yash Raj Films in 1973, and it has produced over 50 films till date. His banner produced many hit films including "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" (1995). He was known for making intensely emotional and tragic movies, and shooting films in exotic locales.
