Vijay Anthony-starrer "Pichaikkaran" is holding well at the box office on weekdays. The five-day collection of the movie stands at Rs 7.4 crore in Tamil Nadu.

Trade tracker Sreedhar Pillai has confirmed the news and tweeted, "#Pichaikkaran truly becomes a #Panakkaran, 5-day TN net of Rs 7.40 Cr (approx), Share - Rs 4.5 Cr (no tax). @vijayantony's highest grosser. (sic)"

"Pichaikkaran" had opened to fantastic reviews from the audience and critics last week. In the opening weekend, it had collected Rs 4.25 crore. The good response helped the movie to get additional screens from Monday.

The movie was released in about 225 screens and the screen count has now reportedly crossed 300 in Tamil Nadu. It is now declared as a hit by the industry and "Pichaikkaran" is said to be Vijay Anthony's biggest hit at the box office till date.

"Pichaikkaran," which has got 30 percent entertainment tax exemption from the state government, had clashed with "Pokkiri Raja" and "Sowkarpettai," but Jeeva-starrer and Raai Laxmi's flick failed to garner good reviews. This has helped Vijay Anthony's film to some extent at the box office, opine trade experts.

At Chennai box office, "Pichaikkaran" minted Rs 60.31 lakh from 174 shows in its first weekend. After registering a decent opening, the collection saw a good jump in the weekend due to the good word-of-mouth.

"Pichaikkaran," which has Satna Titus in the female lead role, is written and directed by Sasi and produced by Vijay Anthony himself. It tells the story of a rich man turning poor due to circumstances.
