The overall indirect tax collection during April-September soared 35.8% to over Rs 3.24 lakh crore as compared to Rs 2.39 lakh crore during the corresponding period last year. Central excise, which had contributed the least in the first six months last year, became the highest contributor in 2015 at Rs 1.25 lakh crore, a jump of almost 70%.
