India's Budgetary Allocation for Defence Research Falls 6%

Despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi's strong pitch for 'Make in India' campaign, India's budgetary allocation for defence research and development went down to Rs 14,358 crore in financial year 2015-16 from Rs 15,283 crore in the previous year, a 6% cut, according to a data of Ministry of Defence. This is in sharp contrast to the rise of a whopping 44% in the budgetary allocation last year compared to Rs 10,610 crore in financial year 2013-14.
