India's imports came down by more than 25% from $43.3 billion in September 2014 to $32.3 billion in the same month this year, the data released by Ministry of Commerce and Industry says. However, the country's exports also fell almost 25% during the same period from $28.9 billion to $21.8 billion. At the end of September 2015, however, the trade deficit reduced to $10.5 billion compared to $12.4 billion in the previous month, a drop of 15%.

As against the normal monsoon rainfall of 887.5 mm during June to September, India recorded only 760.6 mm rainfall, which was 14% lower. With the withdrawal of the monsoon system from the country, now many parts of it remain parched. As per the IMD data, June saw good rainfall, which improved further in July.
