Internationally acclaimed Indian actress Priyanka Chopra, who made heads turn with her chic lilac dress suit at actress Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding on Saturday, says the day will be remembered as it stood for change and hope. Taking to Instagram with an image of the newly married royal couple, who can be seen coming out of the chapel after exchanging their vows, Priyanka wrote an emotional note conveying her love and belief in the marriage. She wrote:

Prince Harry married US actress Meghan Markle in a ceremony at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle here on Saturday. Meghan became the first royal bride to walk herself up the aisle at a royal wedding. She was met half way by Prince Charles, the Duke of Cornwall, who walked her down the aisle of the Quire of the chapel. Her father Thomas Markle was unable to attend due to health issues. Among the 600 celebrity guests invited to the St. George Chapel were internationally acclaimed Indian actress Priyanka Chopra, Oprah Winfrey, George and Amal Clooney, David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John, Tom Hardy, James Corden, James Blunt and Carey Mulligan among others. Tennis star Serena Williams and rugby star Jonny Wilkinson were also present.

Iconic actress Sridevi was posthumously honoured at the 71st Cannes Film Festival. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who received the award on her behalf, says he felt honoured. Sridevi was honoured with the TITAN Reginald F. Lewis Film Icon Award, which celebrates women of the film industry all over the world and also salutes the multicultural impact on the film industry. Ghai shared a few photographs of himself while receiving the award on Twitter and captioned it:

As part of Free a Girl’s Lock-Me-Up Campaign, the actor locked herself in a 12x8 feet small cage at Cannes to bring global attention on the issue. Mallika, who has been known for her strong association with ‘Free A Girl’ NGO had represented them last year too at Cannes. The actor has been known for her active involvement in philanthropic activities over the years and this time around she has pledged to make efforts to end this evil practice.

Dozens of women film stars have held a protest at the Cannes film festival against gender-based discrimination in the industry.
