Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pipped Sunrisers Hyderabad by four runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Sunday to return to the top of the Indian Premier League (IPL) table. Chasing a challenging 183-run target, Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson (84) and Yusuf Pathan (45 off 27) put up a good fight but fell short. SRH were off to a disastrous start losing three wickets for just 22 runs in 4.2 overs. Young medium pacer Deepak Chahar gave the early jolts to the hosts after bagging the wickets of opener Ricky Bhui (0), Manish Pandey (0) and Deepak Hooda (1).

Seasoned opener Shikhar Dhawan smashed a quickfire century to help India pile 158/0 at lunch in the lop-sided opening session on day 1 of the one-off Test against debutants Afghanistan here on Thursday. At the break, Murali Vijay (41 not out) and Dhawan (104 not out) went back intact, leaving Afghanistan to rethink over their strategies in their first ever Test match. Dhawan looked in sublime touch right from the start, punishing the pace duo of Yamin Ahmadzai and Wafadar for glorious boundaries before sending his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate Rashid Khan to the cleaners. The Delhi southpaw has now become the only Indian to score a century in the opening session of a Test match. With Vijay playing a sedate innings at the other end, Dhawan looked unstoppable and got to his seventh test ton in mere 87 balls even as the famed Afghan spin trio of Mohammed Nabi, Rashid and Mujeeb Ur Rahman seemed all at sea with this format.

The Rohit Sharma-led side, which is now placed fifth in the league points table with four wins from 10 games, delivered a good show in both the batting and bowling departments at home against third-placed Kolkata, who have 10 points from the same number of games. After putting up a challenging 181/4, Mumbai's disciplined bowling restricted Kolkata to 168/6 to keep themselves alive in the tournament. Mumbai will now need to win all their remaining four games if they want to be in the top four at the end of the league stage. A 91-run opening partnership followed by Hardik Pandya's quickfire cameo in the middle order propelled Mumbai to post a challenging 181/4.
