Philips Re-Enters Indian Mobile Market with Three New Android

Electronics giant Philips announced its re-entry into the burgeoning handset market in India with the launch of a new range of Android smartphones- W6610, W3500, S308 and feature phone- E130.

The Sang Fei-owned company, which was part of Indian mobile market in early 2000 is also planning to introduce new handsets in the coming months. The new smartphones and feature phones of Philips target the professionals and technology enthusiasts in the country and the company hopes to find good market in India.

Philips W6610

Philips W6610 is priced at ₹20,650 and the highlight of the smartphone is its battery. The handset is powered by 5300mAh battery, which is the biggest battery capacity for any smartphones currently in the market. Moving on to other features of the handset, it sports 5-inch (540x960 pixels) qHD IPS display and is powered by 1.3 Ghz quad core processor and 1GB of RAM. Philips W6610 is shipped with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and comes with 4GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded by upto 32GB via microSD card.

The handset houses 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and CMOS sensor and 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It supports connectivity features like 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and AGPS.

Philips W3500

Like W6610, Philips W3500 also runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. It is priced at ₹16,195 and comes with 5-inch FWVGA display, 1.3GHz quad-core Mediatek processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal memory with expandable options and a bigger 2200 mAh battery. On the camera front, the smartphone hosts 5 megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and 2 megapixel front facing camera. The handset supports dual SIM, micro USB 2.0, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

Philips S308

It features 4-inch WVGA display and is powered by 1GHz dual-core MediaTek 6572M processor along with 512MB RAM. The handset is shipped with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and packs 4GB of internal storage with expandable option. It has 5 megapixel rear camera and 0.3 megapixel front camera and comes loaded with 1,400mAh battery. The connectivity options include G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and AGPS. It is priced at ₹8,290.

The feature phone E130 comes with dual-SIM and a digital camera. It has FM radio and MP3 player and comes with a price tag of priced at ₹1,960.
