Singer and producer Pharrell Williams met his wax double on 1 April at Madame Tussauds in New York. Before seeing his likeness, the musician was slightly nervous: Im excited and scared at the same time, if that makes any sense. The figure was styled after one of Williams most memorable looks.

Our artists have replicated the famous look from the 2014 Grammy Awards. Which features the signature look of the mountain hat which was donated by Vivienne Westwood. Hes also wearing the red leather jacket that he performed in at the Grammys. And he has jewellery featured that was designed by Damien Hirst, said Bret Pidgeon, regional manager of Madame Tussauds, New York and Washington, D.C.

Williams, who has produced music for Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke and others, said while he found the process interesting, it was also exhausting.

I think my favourite part of the process was just understanding how it worked. There was a lot of standing there for a super long time, he said. Artists from Madame Tussauds flew to Miami to take Williams measurements.

Actually I think P.Diddy walked in in the middle of the sitting. So it was really great for him to be able to take time out of his day to do the sitting for us so we could create such a life-like figure, said Pidgeon.

The figure will be part of the museums music icons section.
