Saif Ali Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer "Phantom" did decent business at the India box office on Saturday to take its two-day collection to Rs 21.24 crore nett. 

"Phantom" is one of the most hyped Bollywood movies of 2015. The promos of the film have generated lot of curiosity for the film. Its makers have shelled out hefty sum on its publicity. A day before its release, the movie registered decent amount of advance booking for its opening day.

Released in 2,600 screens in the domestic market on 28 August, "Phantom" opened to an average occupancy in the morning show on Friday. The movie garnered positive reviews from both the audience and critics, which took its business upwards in the afternoon and evening shows.

"Phantom" collected Rs 8.46 crore nett at the Indian box office on the first day. The Kabir Khan-directed movie became the ninth biggest Bollywood opener of 2015 in the domestic market, pushing down "Drishyam" (Rs 8 crore) and "Badlapur" (Rs 7.12 crore) to 10th and 11th places, respectively. But "Phantom" has failed to become the biggest opener for Saif Ali Khan as it has failed to beat the opening day collection records of his previous blockbusters. It has become the fifth biggest opener for the actor. Here is list of top 5 biggest openers of the 'Nawab'.

The strong word-of-mouth took its business upwards with "Phantom" witnessing over 50% growth on Saturday. On its second day, the movie raked in Rs 12.78 crore nett at the India box office, taking its two-day total to Rs 21.24 crore nett.

Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh ‏tweeted, "#Phantom biz witnesses SOLID 51% growth on Sat [Raksha Bandhan]. Fri 8.46 cr, Sat 12.78 cr. Total: ₹ 21.24 cr [on 2600 screens]. India biz."

The word-of-mouth continued to work, as "Phantom" got good advance bookings on Sunday. The movie ran to packed houses in many circuits in the morning and matinee shows. Early trends indicate the film is expected to do better business on its third day than on the second day.
