The Season 3 finale of "Penny Dreadful," which will be aired on June 19, will be a two-hour special featuring two back-to-back episodes, "Perpetual Night" and "The Blessed Dark." The special will also explore what will happen when Ethan, Sir Malcolm and Kaetenay return to London. Viewers will also get the answers to a number of questions that have been plaguing them.

The previous episode, titled "Ebb Tide," showed Ethan expressing a desire to return to London, especially to Vanessa. But Kaetenay experiences a vision of Vanessa, and he tells Ethan that she is in grave trouble. "I can see why you love her, but she is damned," Kaetenay says, to which Ethan responds, "Not while I walk this Earth."

As for Vanessa, she finally realised that Dr Sweet is Dracula, but instead of killing him, she seems to have joined forces with him."You have tried for so long to be who everyone wants you to be, what you thought you want to be, what your church and your family and your doctors said you must be. Why not be who you are instead?" Dr Sweet says, persuading her to unleash the evilness in her.

Will Vanessa stay a vampire? A good number of fans have pinned their hopes on Ethan saving his ladylove. "Maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part, but from the way the end was shot, I was thinking that the scene between Vanessa and Dracula in the museum was a dream," an Entertainment Weekly reader noted. "Not necessarily a dream, but a vision of what could happen between them. I'm just really hoping that she didn't give in so easily, especially before the Dynamic Trio arrived back in London to help."

The official synopses for the upcoming two episodes reads: "Ethan, Sir Malcolm and Kaetenay return to London, where Ethan searches for Dr. Frankenstein. Meanwhile, Dr. Seward discovers Renfield's secret; and Lily reveals a heartbreaking story from Brona Croft's past."
