Veraval, Feb 20 (ANI): The 173 Indian fishermen imprisoned in Pakistan have returned to their homes in Gujarat, days after their release at the border. The fishermen, who were arrested for illegal fishing in Pakistani waters, were released through the Wagah border in Punjab, in a ‘goodwill gesture’. Their families were overjoyed as the train entered the platform at Veraval in Gujarat on Thursday. Fishermen said they were asked by the remaining imprisoned fishermen to urge the government for their release, adding they were given shoes and money upon their departure by Pakistani non-profit social welfare programme, Edhi. An in-charge of the fishermen said they were given directions to bring back boats belonging to the fishermen back to India. In Gujarat’s Rajkot city too, the train brought back the men, earlier in the day.
