Sean Combs aka P Diddy was arrested on Monday afternoon, 22 June, for allegedly assaulting UCLA football coach Jim Mora with a kettlebell at the Acosta Athletic Training Complex at the University of California in Los Angeles.

The incident happened when Diddy's son Justin Combs was playing football at the training complex. He is a defensive back of the university's football team.

He was released on jail after paying $160,000, foxnews.com said.

Earlier, the 45-year-old rapper and his then girlfriend Jennifer Lopez were arrested in 1999 for possession of weapon while attending a party at Club New York in New York City, where three persons were shot and wounded.

Many rappers, including Chris Brown, Jay Z and others have a history of being arrested in the past for similar behaviour.

Check out some of the rappers below:

Jay Z

The American rapper was reportedly arrested in 1999 in connection with the murder of another rapper Lamont Coleman aka Big L, who was shot dead in February that year. Even though Big L's childhood friend was blamed for the murder, reports had it that Jay Z was the mastermind behind it.  The Grammy-winning "The Blueprint 3" rapper was also arrested outside a Manhattan nightclub for carrying a gun without licence in 2001.

Chris Brown

Grammy Award winner Chris Brown has his share of legal troubles, including the infamous 2009 Rihanna assault; the R&B singer was sent to jail for violation of his probation last year and was sentenced to serve additional 131 more days in prison.

Lil Wayne

In 2007, Lil Wayne was taken into custody after his performance at the Beacon Theatre in the New York City for smoking marijuana near a tourist bus and for carrying a 40-caliber pistol, following which he was sentenced to one-year in prison in March 2010.

Max B

After being found guilty of murder and robbery charges in 2009, Charles Wingate aka Max B was sentenced to 75 years in prison.
