OnePlus has established that it brings disruption like no other brand and it plans to keep up the trend despite meeting with stiff competition from brands like Xiaomi, Honor, Nokia and others. Following the success of OnePlus 6, the company lost some of its spotlight to Xiaomi when the latter brand launched Poco F1. But with the latest revelation, it looks like OnePlus is going under the limelight again.

There have been several rumours and speculations about OnePlus 6T, but nothing has been confirmed so far. But CNET is reporting that the Chinese smartphone maker has confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 6T will indeed offer an in-display fingerprint scanner. The company is calling the new feature "Screen Unlock," according to the report.

"We unlock our phones multiple times a day, and Screen Unlock reduces the number of steps to complete the action. By adding this feature as an addition to other display unlocking options such as Face Unlock, users will have options to unlock the display in a way that is most efficient for them," OnePluswas quoted as saying by CNET.

With the new in-display fingerprint feature, OnePlus joins the ranks of Vivo and Huawei. Ahead of this confirmation, a set of alleged leaked images of the OnePlus 6T's box had confirmed that the phone would have the fingerprint sensor under the display. OnePlus also revealed that it had planned to introduce the sophisticated feature in OnePlus 5T last year, but it delayed the integration to meet its standards for delivering a fast and smooth user experience.

Seeing how particular OnePlus is about the features it chooses for its phones, we can assume the in-display fingerprint scanner in the OnePlus 6T to work flawlessly. By relocating the biometric sensor from the rear, OnePlus 6T will have a more unibody look. The company also added that the change has added 0.45mm thickness compared to OnePlus 6, but users will hardly feel the change.

Adding in-display fingerprint scanner is one of many firsts for OnePlus 6T. The company has also confirmed that OnePlus 6T will be the first smartphone to be available on T-Mobile's network through a carrier deal in the U.S. This is a huge win for OnePlus as most of the phones sold in the country are sold through carrier partnerships. There's no word on expanding the carrier deals to AT&T and Verizon, the largest telcos in the US.

That said, OnePlus 6T, with its incremental upgrades, is expected to cost $550. The smartphone is also rumoured to have triple rear cameras and a teardrop notch display. These upgrades are certainly tempting enough even for a OnePlus 6 user and hopefully OnePlus launches a worthy exchange program for those who are willing to go from 6 to 6T.

Certain features like the Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6-8GB RAM, up to 256GB storage, dual SIM card slots, Dash Charge fast charging support and more will remain intact, making for a solid "flagship killer." Stay tuned for updates.
