OnePlus 2 was dubbed a flagship-killer when it was released in 2015, but it was no match for high-end devices like Samsung Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6s. Now, all eyes are on OnePlus 3, which is expected to come with the latest technology.

The Chinese company is yet to reveal the release date of its flagship device, OnePlus 3, but if one were to go by past trends, it should arrive in the third quarter of this year. OnePlus One was released in June 2014, while OnePlus 2 was unveiled in July and released in August 2015, so the upcoming smartphone may also come during this time of the year in 2016.

According to renders leaked by Mobile-Dad (via GizChina), OnePlus 3 is similar to OnePlus 2 in design and no speakers on the rear of the device. It went on to claim the device could sport a 1920x1080pixel screen and be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor.

Interestingly, designer Hasan Kaymak's render of the device, published by ConceptPhones, claimed it would sport a 5.2-inch Quad-HD display, powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor, and come with a 4,000mAh battery. There were also reports that it may run Cyanogen OS, based on Android Marshmallow, and have 64GB internal storage and 4GB RAM.

However, one has to take the specifications of the device with a pinch of salt as OnePlus is yet to announce it.

Interestingly, rumours have been doing the rounds that OnePlus 3 might boast of best technology available in the industry and could even turn out to be a killer of upcoming flagship devices. However, truth can be harsh, as it won't be easy to beat upcoming devices like Samsung Galaxy S7, iPhone 7 and other flagship devices from the likes of HTC, Blackberry, LG and Sony.
