Karachi, Sept 26 (ANI): At least one person was killed and eight others, including two women and police personnel, were injured when a bomb targeting a senior anti-terror police officer went off in Karachi late on Thursday. According to initial reports, the attack targeted senior anti-terror police officer, Senior Superintendent of Police, Farooq Awan, who was travelling in his bomb proof vehicle when it was attacked. The blast was so huge it was heard in various areas of the city. Police officials said that over 50kg of explosives were used in the blast. Awan and several others had been shifted to a private hospital in the area. Additional Inspector General of Police Ghulam Qadir Thebo told reporters that Awan had sustained minor injuries. However, an unidentified man was taken to hospital in critical condition. A hospital spokesperson later said the civilian had died in the hospital.
