The Malayalam film industry is all set for a big star war this Onam.

This festive season will see the release of five major Malayalam films of Mammootty, Mohanlal, Dileep, Prithviraj, Kunchacko Boban and Biju Menon, who are all set to try their luck this Onam.

Mohanlal's "Peruchazhi" will be the first Onam release. This highly expected Mohanlal entertainer will hit theatres on 29 August, where he will be seen as Jaganathan. The actor had earlier done his superhit film "Aaram Thampuran" with the same character name, which has raised the expectation among his fans.

"Peruchazhi" promotions are in full swing and the makers have come up with the idea of advertising the Mohanlal starrer on the trains and to introduce a new "Peruchazhi" game.

The Arun Vaidhyanathan directorial has Mukhesh, Aju Varghese, Baburaj, Vijay Babu, Delhi Ganesh, Shankar Ramakrishnan, Sean James Sutton, Ramesh Pisharody, Ragini Nandhawani, Andrea Jeremiah, Sandra Thomas and Poonam Bajwa in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Sandra and Vijay under the banner of Friday Film House.

 "Rajadhi Raja"

Mammootty's "Rajadhi Raja" is his another mass entertainer, which is slated for a 5 September release and is reportedly said to be along the lines of his previous entertainers like "Pokkiri Raja" and "Rajamanikyam".

The film's trailer indicates that it is meant for a mass audience with punch dialogues, action sequences and music.

Mammootty, who has high expectations will be seen as Shekharankutty in the film. His last releases "Manglish" and "Munnariyippu" have opened in theatres with good reviews and if the upcoming film becomes a success, the actor will have three back to back credible films.

"Rajadhi Raja", directed by debutant Ajai Vasudev has Raai Laxmi, Siddhique, Joy Mathew, Lena, Joju George, Mukesh Khanna, Bheeman Raghu, Babu Namboothiri, Rahul Dev and Taniya Stanely in pivotal roles. The film is produced by M. K. Naseer and Stanely C. S. under the banner of Goodline Productions.

"Villai Veeran" and "Bhaiyya Bhaiyya"

Two more films will see lights on 5 September. Dileep's "Villai Veeran" and Kunchacko Boban – Biju Menon starrer "Bhaiyya Bhaiyya" are slated to hit theatres on the day. 

"Villali Veeran" is touted as a typical Dileep festival release with dance, comedy and romance. Dileep - Kalabhavan Shajon combination is expected to create laughter riot in theatres.

The Dileep starrer also has Namitha Pramod, Mythili, Nedumudi Venu, Siddhique, Ganesh Kumar, Lalu Alex, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Saju Kodiyan, Suresh Krishna, Seetha, Vinay Prasad, Geetha Vijayan, Valsala Menon and Neena Kurup in important roles.

The film, directed by debutant Sudhessh Shankar is produced by R. B Choudary under the banner of Super Good Films.

Meanwhile, "Bhaiyya Bhaiyya" has Kunchacko Boban and Biju Menon combination after a gap of two years. The film also has well acclaimed comedy actors like Innocent, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Salim Kumar in pivotal roles.

The lead heroine of "Bhaiyya Bhaiyya" is Nisha Aggarwal (sister of Kajal Aggarwal) and has Vijaya Raghavan, Shammi Thilakan, Sudhir Karamana, Thesni Khan and Ambika Mohan in main roles.

"Sapthamshree Thaskaraha:"

"Sapthamshree Thaskaraha:" starring Prithviraj, Asif Ali, Nedumudi Venu, Neeraj Madhav, Sudheer Karamana, Salaam Bhukhari and Chemban Vinod will be released on 6 September.

The film's trailer has already aroused interest among the audience with the usage of thick Thrissur slang and dialogues filled with comedy. It will be a satirical film that revolves around seven thieves who meet in a prison.

"Sapthamashree Thaskaraha:" is directed by Anil Radhakrishna Menon and is produced by Santhosh Sivan, Shaji Nadesan and Prithviraj under the banner of August Cinemas.
