Finnish handset maker Nokia has finally launched the much-awaited Windows Phone 8 based Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 in the Indian market.

Nokia India confirmed the launch of the smartphones on its Facebook page on Thursday. "This is the day. Get ready. The world around you is going to change forever. All set?" the company post read.

Nokia's flagship smartphones Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 are priced ₹36,499 and ₹26,499, respectively, are now available for purchase at online retailer Saholic.

The company's high-end smartphone Lumia 920 runs on the latest Windows Phone 8 OS and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 1.5 GHz CPU speed.

Lumia 820 is a cheaper mid-level smartphone that also runs on the latest Windows OS but sports a less impressive camera compared to its bigger sibling Lumia 920. The higher-end device comes with in-built memory of 1GB.

Both smartphones are sold in the US and Europe with 4G/LTE connectivity. This feature is not available to users in India as 4G network is not widely available as of now.

Nokia had first unveiled these smartphones way back in September last year. The company first began shipping the devices to US, Europe and other select markets in November.

Nokia has confirmed that Lumia 920 and 820 will be available from Jan 11 at select retail stores in major cities across India.

Nokia's first entry-level smartphone to feature Windows Phone 8 OS - Lumia 620 - is slated to hit Indian stores early February and the smartphone is expected to be priced around ₹14,000.
