Even before Nokia could officially release is its biggest handset Lumia 625 in India, e-retailer Flipkart has begun taking pre-orders of the 4.7-inch smartphone and also revealed its price.

Prospective buyers can place orders for the big-screen Lumia 625 for ₹19,499 at Flipkart. It can also be pre-booked at Infibeam by paying ₹1,000 as advance. The company said that the remaining amount will have to be paid at the time of launch. Another e-commerce site Snapdeal seems to have made good business; a sold-out sign was flashed on its Lumia 625 page.

The smartphone is expected to be released around the end of August.

Nokia Lumia 625 is a mid-range smartphone, sporting a 4.7-inch IPS LCD WVGA (800x480) screen with pixel density of 201 ppi (pixels per inch) topped with a Corning Gorilla Glass 2 shield.

The phone ships with Windows Phone 8 OS out-of-the-box and packs a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor powered by a 2000 mAh battery.

Considering its price, Lumia 625 with its mere 512MB RAM, 8GB memory and 5.0-megapixel main camera comes as a major disapointment. The Finnish company is expected to face hurdles in Lumia 625 sales since the Indian market sees no dearth of low-cost smartphones with high-end specifications.
