Finnish smartphone maker Nokia is reportedly working on an Android operated smartphone codenamed 'Normandy'.
The smartphone is said to fall in Nokia's low-end range of handsets and is being tested on a special variant of Android which is not aligned with Google's own version.
Last month, an image of a Nokia handset was posted by serial leaskster @Evleaks on Twitter. The image showed that the smarphone lacked the capacitive buttons for navigation. [Check image here]
The Normandy device also supports Skype app for Android and other top apps.
Several sources indicate that the Normany handset is designed as an equivalent to Nokia's Asha range of handsets and is planned for a release next year, reported The Verge.
However, it remains unclear whether Nokia will reveal the device before or after finalising its deal with Microsoft. It has been signing the deal, Microsoft would not like the Nokia handsets to feature a rival OS instead of its own Windows Phone OS.

Windows Phone 8 GDR3 Preview Update users are receiving the final update version which bumps the OS build number to 8.0.10521.155.
Microsoft recently launched the preview programme for developers, which gives a rough projection of what the GDR3 would look like.
The updates available are:
- Microsoft Update 8.0.10517.150
- Microsoft Update 8.0.10521.155
However, these updates are from Microsoft for Windows Phone OS and are not the firmware updates from Nokia. The updates are just minor bug fixes, reported Win Beta.
