The Indian smartphone market, which is one of the world's fastest growing business, is brimming with affordable feature-rich handsets from local manufacturers.

Apart from Samsung, other MNCs like Nokia and LG have joined the race with domestic players to cash in on the lucrative low-cost smartphone business. Nokia's Lumia and LG's Optimus L series of affordable smartphones recently made their entry into the sub-continent with a target on thrift middle-class buyers of India.

Consumers who are looking to buy a mid-segment MNC branded smartphones can take a look at Nokia's refreshing Windows phone 8 OS based Lumia 720 and LG's recently released Android jelly Bean based smartphone Optimus L7-2, Both smartphones boast feature-rich specs such as good cameras, display quality and other cool add-ons, at affordable prices.

Display:

Lumia 720 sports a 4.3-inch IPS LCD screen with 800x480p resolution display and pixel desnity close to 217 ppi (pixels per inch). Optimus L7-2 too features a similar 4.3-inch IPS LCD screen and packs a 480x800p display resolution with same pixel density of 217 ppi.  

Processor:

In terms of power, LG Optimus L7-2 packs a dual-core Cortex A5 processor with 1GHz CPU speed and Adreno 203 GPU. On the other hand, Lumia 720 packs a Qualcomm based dual-core Krait processor with a powerful Adreno 305 graphics engine.

Camera:

Optimus L7-2 packs an impressive 8.0-megapixel main camera with LED flash support, 854x480p resolution video recording capability, and 4X digital zoom. It also houses a 0.3-megapixel VGA camera on the front side. Nokia's Lumia 720 sports a 6.1-megapixel main camera with Carl Zeiss Lens, LED flash support and a remarkable 1.3-megapixel front maera with 720p HD wide-angle video-recording ability.

Operating System:

Optimus L7-2 holds an upper hand over Windows Phone OS based Lumia 720 with its Android mobile OS v4.1 Jelly Bean. The Android ecosystem currently holds a mammoth collection of more than 700,000 apps.

Lumia 720 users will have limited options with its Windows Phone 8 OS ecosystem which holds a tiny collections of a little more than 150,000 plus apps. 

Memory:

LG Optimus L7-2 comes with 768MB RAM and 4GB storage capacity with options of expanding memory up to 32GB. In comparison, Lumia 720 comes with 8GB internal memory capable of expanding up to 64 GB via micro-SD card. The only drawback in the Nokia 720 in terms of memory is that it comes with 512MB RAM. This may come as a dissapointment for Lumia owners who will not be able play the popular mobile game 'Temple Run' which requires 1GB RAM.

Price:

The retail price of Nokia Lumia 720 is around ₹18,000, whereas LG Optimus L7-2 holds a price tag of 15,000, almost ₹3,000 less than the Nokia phone.
