The Noida police arrested two men in connection with the murder and suspected rape of 21-year-old girl whose semi nude body was found lying near Pushta area in Sector 63 on Saturday.

The two accused, identified as Naresh Lodha and Kailash Yadav, were arrested on Sunday and another accomplice, Udeyveer Yadaav, is absconding.

The police said that Naresh, who had earlier worked in the garment factory where the victim was an employee, had promised to marry her. After learning of his marriage, the girl began avoiding him. She had also threatened to file a police complaint, irking him to take the drastic step.

On Friday night, Naresh took the girl to a construction site where Kailash and Udeyveer were waiting. They strangled her to death and fled.

The police suspect rape and her autopsy report is awaited.

"Whether the woman was raped would be confirmed once the medical report is received. However, from the scene of crime we suspect the accused tried to rape her," a senior officer told PTI.

The reports said that Kailash and Udeyveer had enmity with the victim. Udeyveer had earlier molested her after forcibly entering into her house.

Meanwhile, four policemen were suspended and a Station House Officer (SHO) was shunted to police line as they did not file an FIR when the victim's family members said she went missing.

The murder had triggered huge outcry after the victim's father complained that the police did not take any action when he reported her disappearance. He said that cops suggested that the girl had taken off with someone.

The Uttar Pradesh government had announced a compensation ₹15 lakh and a job to one of the family members. The victim's body was cremated on Sunday.
