Rajinikanth in 'Endhiran' movie

After the release of superstar Rajinikanth's mega-budget movie 'Robot' (Endhiran), Bollywood was abuzz with rumours that Yash Raj Films was contemplating to rope in the Tamil actor (Rajini) for the lead role in their third installment of the Dhoom franchise.

Speculations over the possibility of Rajinikanth portraying an anti-hero role in 'Dhoom 3' spread like a wild fire among his fans worldwide. Later, the production house stopped all rumours saying that they had no such idea of having Rajinikanth in the movie.

This is not the end of the story. According to latest media reports, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, who has signed for the villain role in 'Dhoom 3', has reportedly expressed his willingness to share screen space with the larger-than-life actor, Rajinikanth.

Confirming the news, an insider source talking to the DNA said, "Rajini sir has a mass following, which is very tough to beat for any of the actors in B-Town. He is extremely popular not just in India but also in other countries. Also his on-screen style and persona is impeccable and hence if Aamir wants to work with the superstar it is well understood. Other stars who've worked with Rajini include A-listers Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan. Aamir has always been an ardent admirer of the superstar, and would also like to share screen space with him, as other A-listers have before him."

It is a dream for all  big actors of Indian cinema to work with an actor like Rajinikanth, no matter whether their role is pivotal or just a cameo.

Bollywood main-stream actors like Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan have worked with Rajinikanth in the past.

After missing out a slew of opportunities to work with the South Indian superstar, Aishwarya Rai finally grabbed the blockbuster 'Endhiran' (Robot in Hindi) movie.

Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan secured a chance to share screen space along with Rajinikanth in his ambitious science-fiction movie, Ra.One, in which the Tamil superstar makes a guest appearance as 'Chitti,' the robot from 'Endhiran.'

Yash Raj Films released the first installment of the Dhoom series in 2004, followed by the second installment 'Dhoom 2' in 2006. The films created a trend in Bollywood with breath-taking action sequences and impressive police-thief game.

Actors John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan played villain characters in 'Dhoom' and 'Dhoom 2', respectively.
