If the emerging reports on the internet hold true, Nissan India has stopped the production of its Evalia MPV in the country due to poor demand for the model.

A report in Auto Car Professional reveals that Nissan Evalia production has stopped in India owing to poor sales. Evalia, which is part of the Indian road since 2012, has not been able to pull much crowd. The company could sell only 2,412 units of Evalia since then.

Further, the report also adds that although the Evalia production is suspended, the MPV could hit the assembly line again if the inventory of the model gets cleared. However, considering the current market scenario, it is highly unlikely.

It would be interesting to note that, Ashok Leyland's Stile that was also built on the same Evalia platform was also withdrawn from the market this May.

Under the hood, the MPV is packed with 1.5 litre, four cylinder K9K engine, which can generate a power of 85bhp and a peak toque of 200Nm mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. With ARAI certified mileage of 19.3kmpl, Evalia comes with safety features like air bag, Electronic Brake-force Distribution system (EBD) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).
