Mumbai: Nikhil Chinappa, a television host and gang leader on the 21st season of 'MTV Roadies', expressed his nostalgia for the show's original version, describing it as a "whole different era" filled with fun and unpredictability.
He shared his excitement about returning as a gang leader, saying the experience feels surreal and like coming home. Having been part of the show in various roles—selecting contestants, judging, and winning—Nikhil feels deeply connected to its journey.
He emphasized the unique aspect of 'Roadies' where contestants are ordinary people from all backgrounds who have the chance to become household names through determination and talent.
"Anyone, from anywhere, can show up, audition and earn their place," Nikhil said, highlighting the show's transformative power.
Joining forces with his friend Rannvijay and other original gang leaders, Nikhil is enthusiastic about engaging with a new generation of participants.
This season features six gang leaders: Nikhil Chinappa, Neha Dhupia, Prince Narula versus Abhishek Malhan, Bani J, and Baseer Ali.
Nikhil Chinappa is known for popularizing EDM among Indian youth and has been associated with MTV India since the late 1990s. His television appearances include 'Roadies' and 'Splitsvilla'.
He played a key role in elevating DJing as a profession and helped shape the music scene at the Sunburn Festival during its early years.
