The second half of 2014 will see flagship smartphones from major mobile makers clash. While Google has not announced the release date of its next-generation device dubbed as Nexus 6, the device might hit stores in October, just a few weeks after Apple Inc. launches its much-hyped iPhone 6.

HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5 have hit stores a few months ago, so the main competitors this winter will be the 4.7-inch model of iPhone 6 and Nexus 6, despite huge price difference. Apple's device may cost almost the double of Google's smartphone if the prices of their predecessors are any indication.

Nexus 6 may give iPhone 6 a run for its money though the latter is a big brand with huge number of loyal customers, as some of its features are at par with the former and some are even better than that of Apple's device.

We leave it to you to check out the features of the devices that have been reported so far.

Apart from features mentioned in the table, Nexus 6 is expected to come with a curved LCD display and have a lightweight, polycarbonate body. It may also boast of Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and micro-USB connectivity slot.

On the other hand, iPhone 6 is expected to have sapphire crystal glass screen though latest report suggested that its supply chains could be running out of time to manufacture it with its release date drawing near. It may feature sensors that can detect pressure, temperature and humidity, according to Chinese analyst Sun Chang Xu. Apple Insider also reported, citing analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that the smartphone may feature low temperature polysilicon in-cell touch panels, Touch ID fingerprint security, NFC and metal casing.

Nexus 6 and iPhone 6 Release Dates:

Nexus 6 is expected to be released in October, though Google hasn't made any announcement on the date. So far, the most credible information has come from Sundar Pichai, VP at Google, who said at the Mobile World Congress 2014 (MWC 2014) that the device would be announced in October.

On the other hand, iPhone 6 is expected to arrive a few weeks ahead of Nexus 6. German website, ApfelPage reported citing leaked internal documents of German wireless carrier Deutsche Telekom that the device might be unveiled on 19 September.
