Google has been keeping mum on the release date of its upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed as Nexus 6, but reports claimed that could come as a Halloween treat for gadget lovers.

Motorola Shamu aka Nexus 6 could be unveiled on 31 October, coinciding this year's Halloween, reported Inferse without confirming it. The device is expected to be released a few weeks about the unwrapping event.

It may be recalled that Sundar Pichai, VP at Google, revealed at the Mobile World Congress 2014 (MWC 2014) that the device would be announced in October, but he didn't reveal the exact date, leaving room for rumour-mongers to speculate.

Interestingly, TK Tech News reported that Motorola Shamu, which is claimed to be Nexus 6 by several media houses, could be Android Silver and not Google's upcoming flagship smartphone.

The publication's verification of the device's IMEI through Swappa revealed that the product is real but unlisted, which means it is a Verizon device. The new revelation makes sense because history tells that the carrier is not Nexus friendly.

Several reports has claimed earlier that Google had decided to scrap Nexus line to give way for Android Silver, but an executive from the search giant denied the rumours, saying that Nexus was not killed.

Antutu benchmark recently revealed the key features of Shamu, which many believed to be Google's next-generation device, the Nexus 6.

According to listing, the device will sport a 5.2-inch screen with 1,440x2,560p resolution, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset with CPU speed close to 2.5GHz, and run on yet-to-be released software, Android L. It is also expected to come packed with 3GB RAM, Adreno 420 graphics processor and a 13MP rear camera, 2.1MP front camera.

G4Games had earlier reported that Nexus 6 might come with a Quad-core MT6732 64-bit chip that clocked at 1.5GHz, or the octa-core MT6752 SoC running at a frequency of 2.0GHz. Reports claimed that the device may run on Android L OS, come packed with 3GB RAM and run on Android L.

It was also said that the device might house either a 20MP camera with HDR mode or a 13MP main camera and a 5MP front-snapper, come packed with 32 GB internal memory, 3GB RAM and 3,100 mAh Li-Polymer battery.

There were also reports that Nexus 6 might have several interesting features, including a curved LCD display and a light-weight, polycarbonate body. It may also boast of Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and micro-USB connectivity slot.
