Newcastle United and Manchester City picked up pretty impressive wins at the weekend. Now, the two teams will want to take that momentum into the game at St. James' Park when they face off in the English Premier League on Tuesday.

While Man City are battling to keep their spot in the top four, Newcastle are a tad more desperate, as they fight to stay in the Premier League this season. Even after the impressive 3-0 win over Swansea City on Saturday, Newcastle lie second bottom in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth from bottom Norwich City.

Rafa Benitez's men can go level on points to Norwich with a win against Manchester City on Tuesday, making this match all that more important.

"We still can do it, so we need to fight every game," Moussa Sissoko, who was impressive in the win over Swansea, told the club's official website. "It was six finals. Swansea was the first final, and we won the game.

"On Tuesday, it will be the second final, and if we win we will be on the same points as Norwich, so that's good. We need to believe and keep going.

"A couple of weeks ago, some people said we will be relegated, but the manager said we can do it. Now we need to believe and stay focused on our job, give everything on the pitch. The next game is Tuesday against Manchester City and it's going to be a tough game, but at home we can beat anyone so we need to be ready and try to give everything to win game."

The home crowd will, no doubt, roar their team on, and much will depend on what sort of tone Newcastle can set. If they allow Manchester City to play and use their superior attacking skills, the Magpies will be in trouble. So, the key will be to stay compact, while also looking to attack whenever they have good possession.

For City, who welcome back Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling, this match is about strengthening their hold on third place and maybe even putting a little pressure on second-placed Tottenham. Pep Guardiola taking over at Manchester City with no Champions League football is something the owners or players will not want to envisage, so three points against Newcastle will be equally essential for Manuel Pellegrini's men.

If City turn on the style like they did against Chelsea on Saturday, Newcastle will struggle to cope.

"Newcastle are very dangerous, they have good players, St James' is difficult place to play," Pellegrini was quoted as saying by the club's official website. "They need the points in their survival battle. I hope we continue as we did on Saturday, being aggressive and trying to win from the beginning."
