With the arrival of New Year 2016, the wait is for yet another slew of grand fireworks around the world.

Sydney will be one of the first among the major cities to welcome the New Year owing to time zone differences, followed by Dubai and London, while New York will be one of the last.

The Australian city, which is set to welcome the New Year before any other major metropolises, will be the first major city to welcome Year 2016.

Sydney fireworks will begin 16 hours ahead of the iconic Ball Drop in New York City. There will be two displays at Harbour Bridge, the first one at 9pm and the second during midnight.

About 23,000 fireworks will light up the iconic Harbour. There will also be a special light show for children at 8pm at Darling Harbour. 

ABC1 will broadcast live from 8.30pm from Sydney Opera House and the fireworks will be live streamed by Telstra on its YouTube channel.

Dubai's firework displays for New Year 2016 is expected to be much spectacular than the previous years, reports said.

The display will begin at Downtown Dubai with the Burj Khalifa, which is the tallest building in the world as of now, lighted up in vivid colours. Then the fireworks will move on to the iconic Burj al-Arab hotel with the grand finale at Jumeirah Beach Residence area.

London will witness its annual fireworks display at the iconic London Eye, along with The Bongs of the Big Ben striking at midnight.

The fireworks can be streamed live via the BBC One broadcast.

The New Year's Day Parade, which starts at 12 noon in Piccadilly Street and finishes at 3:30 pm in Parliament Square. The Parade will be screened live online on the official London New Year's Day Parade website from 12pm to 3:30pm GMT on Friday, 1 January. 

All the UK residents can watch the Parade on Sky channel 212 and Freesat 401 channel, while those in the US can watch the show on RFD-TV.

New York City

The annual ball drop in Times Square, which will be watched across 184 countries, will begin at 11:59pm EST at the flagpole at One Times Square.

With ball beginning its drop, about a million people gathered at the Times Square would join in chorus to count down the final 60 seconds of 2015.

Apart from the ball drop, the celebration will also have musical performances and colourful pyro-technic displays.
