After a long wait and much anticipation, Japanese auto major Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has finally pulled the wraps off its new Corolla Altis in India with a price tag ranging between ₹11.99 lakh and ₹16.89 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

New Corolla Altis, a premium sedan offering of Toyota, flaunts a vibrant and striking design in line with the company's global design philosophy and is being offered in five petrol trims - J(S), G, G-CVT, GL and VL (CVT) and four diesel trims - DJ, DJ(S), DG and DGL in the domestic market.

First unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the all-new eleventh generation Corolla Altis parades new radiator grille, LED headlamps, clearance lamps and wide rear LED combination lamps. Coming to the rear end design of the new Corolla Altis, the car features chrome garnish and comes with R 16 alloy wheels.

On the safety front, Toyota's new offering comes loaded with Brake Assist with EBD and ABS, dual SRS airbags, immobilizer and rear camera with display audio screen. Inside the cabin, the car gets cyber carbon piano black instrument panel cluster, a newly designed optitrion meter with illumination and chrome inside door handles. The car comes donned in seven colours -White Pearl Crystal Shine, Silver Mica Metallic, Grey Metallic, Blue Metallic, Champaign Mica Metallic, Super White II and Celestial Black.

Other features which add to the premium looks of the car include rain sensors, navigation (Provided with "New" 7.0 LCD Touch screen and voice command enabled Audio with USB, Bluetooth, and Audio), increased rear seat legroom, rear reading lamp and rear power socket.

Under the hood, the new generation Corolla Altis retains the same 1.8-litre VVTi petrol and 1.4-litre D-4 D diesel engines. While the 1.8l Dual VVTi Petrol engine is tuned to churn out a power of 138.1bhp at 6400 rpm and peak torque of 173 Nm at 4000 rpm, the 1.4 liter D4D diesel produces 87.2 bhp power at 3800 rpm and 205 Nm torque at 1800-2800 rpm.

The petrol motor comes coupled to a Super CVT-i with 7-speed Sequential Shitmatic AT along with newly introduced "Paddle Shift" and the diesel comes with Variable Nozzle Turbo & Intercooler mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The dealerships of the company across the country have already commenced the bookings for the car earlier last month with an advance payment of ₹50,000.

The Skoda Octavia, Renault Fluence and Volkswagen Jetta are the main opponents of new Corolla Altis in India.

Corolla, world's largest selling sedan since 1997 enjoys a customer base of more than 40 million globally. In India, the journey of the saloon started in 2003 and the company has sold more than 88,500 Corolla Altis since then.
