Jaguar Land Rover CEO Ralf Speth and TCS chief N Chandrasekaran have been appointed Additional Directors on Tata Sons Board, according to reports. This takes the Board count to 11 members.

"This is in recognition of their exemplary leadership in their companies," the now interim chairman, Ratan Tata said in a statement.

Outgoing chairman of Tata Group, Cyrus Mistry continues on the board of Tata Sons, but has been re-designated as 'non-executive director', according to the Business Standard.

A non-executive director is a member of a company's board who is not part of the executive team. Such a director typically does not engage in the day-to-day management of the organisation, but is involved in policy making and planning exercises.
