Maruti Suzuki, India's largest car manufacturer, is all set to give a major overhaul to the popular Swift hatchback and Dzire compact sedan, which is scheduled to enter the market in 2018.

The popular MPV of Maruti Suzuki, the Ertiga will get a major mid-life facelift that is slated to come between October 2017 and January 2018. 

The report from Economic Times explains that the new generations of the premium hatchback and compact sedan codenamed YSD will get an all new body and a new engine at heart. The Ertiga, which is codenamed YHA, will have an annual potential of 80,000 units per year. These three models will share a lot of parts helping the company save cost.

The major change is under the hood. The Suzuki developed 1.5-litre diesel engine codenamed E15A will be the new addition along with the Fiat sourced currently selling 1.3-litre DDiS diesel unit. Ertiga will be equipped with the SHVS mild-hybrid technology that debuted with the Ciaz hybrid. The Ertiga will get a new 1.4 litre petrol engine codenamed K14C and the 1.5-litre diesel engine.

The new car will be compliant to the new safety and emission regulations that the Government of India proposed. The new architecture will be light and that will help Maruti Suzuki to further improve fuel efficiency of these models.

Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki is nearing to the launch of mildly facelifted verison of the Ertiga in India. The updated car receives new front grille, bumpers, taillight extensions, dual-tone dashboard and revised seat fabrics. The major change is the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine adding SHVS Hybrid system.
