Disney has released the first teaser image from its upcoming animated series "DuckTales," which is a reboot of the highly popular 1987 series of the same name that had won four Emmy Awards.

The image unveiled by Disney features the prominent characters from the series namely, Scrooge McDuck, also known as Uncle Scrooge in the series, his nephew Donald Duck and grand nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie. In the backseat of the car, Webby Vanderquack, another major character from the series, can also be seen.

As reported by Entertainment Weekly, other beloved characters from the original series like Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold and the Beagle Boys are also set to return in the reboot.

According to IGN, Marc Buhaj, senior vice president of programming at Disney XD, said that the reboot series "drew its inspiration from Disney legend Carl Barks' comic books," and set an "enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults."

The teaser image was released by Disney as part of their ongoing Kids Upfronts where it also revealed updated news regarding "Big Hero 6" TV series and the new series "Star Wars vs. The Forces of Evil."

Comic Book has stated that Disney has represented several new movies and shows for its 2016 and 2017 lineups that include 17 new series, 28 ongoing series, 785 episodes and two original films.

The original "DuckTales" series was one of the most prominent shows of "Disney Afternoons" lineup in the late 80s and early 90s. The characters and plot of the series took inspiration from several pop culture icons like "Indiana Jones," "Sherlock Holmes," and "James Bond."

"DuckTales" is set to premiere in 2017 on Disney XD.
