Bajaj seems to have hit the bullseye with the launch of the new Avenger cruiser motorcycles. The Pune-based two and three-wheeler-manufacturer revamped its cruiser range from one model to three on 27 October. The Avenger cruiser range now consists of Avenger Street 150, Street 220 and Cruise 220, in which the 150cc variants are priced at Rs 75,000 and the 220cc models at Rs 84,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The sales are reportedly in top gear after the launch. A report in the Hindu BusinessLine says the new Avenger range has seen sales of 25,000 units per month. This is in fact eight times higher than the previous Avenger sales, whose 220cc model was averaging 4,000 units per month. Bajaj Auto was estimating sale of 9,000 units post the launch of the new Avenger motorcycles. However, average sale of 25,000 units is way beyond that expectation.

The Street 150 accounts for nearly 40% of the 25,000 units sold each month, translating to monthly sale of 10,000 units. The Street 220 and Cruise 220 makes up the rest. "I am sure the sales percentage of the Avenger 150cc option will increase in the coming months," said Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto.

Bajaj launched the Avenger Street 220 and Avenger Cruise 220 with a 220cc single-cylinder four-stroke air-cooled engine that can churn out 19bhp at 8,400rpm and 17.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. The third in the line-up — Avengers Street 150 — gets Pulsar 150's engine that is tuned to generate 13bhp and a maximum torque of 12.5 Nm.
