As opposed to former reports, Ranbir Kapoor did not have ex-girlfriend Deepika Padukone in mind for his next "Window Seat."

Several reports had carried that the Kapoor lad was eager to reunite with Padukone after the massive success of "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" and in the process gave a miss to his lady love Katrina Kaif.

But now, it has come out that the "Besharam" actor had actually shown preference for Alia Bhatt in the Imtiaz Ali film rather than Padukone or Kaif.

Kapoor initially wanted the "Highway" actress to star as the female lead in "Window Seat," but it seems that the director Ali had other plans.

"Ranbir has always believed that Alia has a lot of potential as an actor. So he had suggested her name, and asked if she fits the role. But she is too young for the part," informed Ali to Hindustan Times.

However, finally the director zeroed on Padukone-Kapoor pair for "Window Seat."

But it wasn't just Kapoor, even the 21-year-old Alia wanted to continue her association with the director, as a previous report claimed that the actress was left somewhat disheartened after Ali picked Padukone for "Window Seat."

Ironically, the director may have felt Bhatt to be too young for the part, but it was the same director who cast her as Veera in "Highway," for which he had initially wanted a matured actress.

Meanwhile, Kapoor's fondness for the actress was evident when he came on board voluntarily to promote the latter's "Highway" despite not being part of the film.

The young actress on her part has expressed ardent desire to work with Kapoor on several occasions; she has even admitted to have a strong crush on the heart throb.

While the Bhatt and Kapoor onscreen pairing is not to be seen anytime soon, the clarification of the actor's original choice for the young actress has put a rest to the rumours of the actor's desperation to re-work with his ex-flame Padukone.
