Detective shows are a hair-raising, intellectually stimulating experience. So it is but acceptable that the newest season of NCIS: New Orleans has fans excited. Season 2 of the crime show focuses on a bigger plot and cast. While spoilers, rumours and speculations about the upcoming season do the rounds on the interweb, we tell you what to look out for.

"NCIS: New Orleans" season 2 has a recurring cast. Expect to find Scott Bakula, Lucas Black, Zoe McLellan, Rob Kervovich and CCH Pounder. In addition to this, Shalita Grant and Daryl Mitchell join as full-time cast members. At the end of season 1, Shalita Grant, who embodies the role of Sonja Percy, longs to join the NCIS team, and her inclusion was speculated for a long time.

We can expect some interesting undercover action this season. Sonja's skill and expertise as an undercover agent was demonstrated in season 1 and we will most surely find more of it in the latest season.

The plot in NOLA's season 2 will revolve around external threats to the city. To be sure, the storyline will take off from where season 1 ended. Agent Dwayne Pride gets to know that the ports are breached, exposing the Navy and the Gulf Coast to danger. The NCIS team gathers intelligence on who or what has entered the city. The team eventually figures out that Captain Messeir acts as a mole and works with a local mob organisation, the Broussard Syndicate, reports Inquisitr.

Season 2, episode 1 of NCIS: New Orleans will depict a military convoy under attack. It is rumoured that the convoy is attacked so that anti-American terrorists can steal a missile. Most of Pride's team will go undercover to get to the terrorists.

The nexus between the Broussard Syndicate and the terrorists will be exposed in season 2. Perhaps Agent Pride shouldn't have underestimated this local mob earlier.

"NCIS: New Orleans" will premiere on Tuesday, 22 September at 9pm on CBS.
