NBA 2K16: 2K Releases TV Trailer Featuring Spike Lee, Players Can Swap the Cover Athletes?

2K Sports has released a new video trailer for NBA 2K16 featuring Spike Lee, a filmmaker and a well-known Knicks fan, and also the cover athletes for its upcoming professional basketball video game.

The one minute odd video stars Lee, who narrates how important the story is in NBA 2K16. "It's about the trials and tribulations of life on a big stage with the money, fame, temptations, family members, the press, fans, all that stuff," he said.

He says that in every basketball game there is a story; starting from street courts to high school and college gyms to Madison Square Garden.

The video also features the three cover athletes who will be part of the game -- Steph Curry, James Harden, and Anthony Davis. All three players have been valuable to their respective teams in NBA 2014-2015.

2K also noted that Lee, who directed 1989's "Do the Right Thing" 1992's "Malcolm X" and 2013's "Old Boy" is deeply involved in the game's development. He is directing, writing and co-producing the NBA 2K16 MyCareer mode. This will enable players to "Be The Story." They will be experiencing the drama of being a "NBA player like never before".

NBA 2K16 is also touted as the first modern game from 2K with a major film director at the helm of development.

NBA 2K16 is scheduled for release on 29 September, 2015, for PS3, PS4, PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The game is being developed by Visual Concepts.

Fans can also pre-order the game and subsequently will receive it four days earlier than the actual release date, on 25 September. The pre-order copies will also have in-game bonuses.

Players can Opt their Cover Athlete?

We already know that NBA 2K16 will have three different cover athletes and GameSpot reported that players will be able make a choice on the cover athlete on the physical copy. So players will be able to swap their favourite cover athlete. "Every game box will come with a foldable insert featuring all three cover athletes," the report added.
