During a recent promo for the Telugu flick Rarandoi Veduka Chuddam, starring Naga Chaithanya, Telugu superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna said he was approached by MT Vasudevan Nair two years ago to play Karna.
"I am aware of the hard work VA Shrikumar has put in for the last four years to make this dream project a reality. Recently, I had a discussion with MT sir about the movie. I have agreed to be part of the project, provided my character has enough importance. The movie is currently in the pre-production stage, and I cannot reveal much now," Nagarjuna said during the press interaction.
Will Nagarjuna be seen as Karna in Mahabharata? We will have to wait and watch.
Meanwhile, in a recent poll conducted by IBTimes India on which Indian actor is most apt to play Lord Krishna, majority of the netizens suggested the name of Telugu young star Mahesh Babu over Bollywood's hearthrob Hrithik Roshan. In an interview with a Malayalam radio channel, Shrikumar had also said he likes to cast Mahesh for the particular role.
The upcoming movie Mahabharata is based on MT Vasudevan Nair's masterpiece novel Randamoozham (Second Turn). Randamoozham is a retelling of the epic through the eyes of Bheem- the second Pandava. The movie is all set to become the most expensive project in India. The multi-lingual project will be bankrolled by UAE-based businessman BR Shetty.
Do you think he fits the bill? Here are some social media response:
Nagarjuna and Mohanlal should be playing Drona and Bhishma, not Karna and Bheema.
What really matters is who's directing this film. If they get the right director, even Powerstar Srinivasan can act in this movie well. SSR?
Chiranjiv Santhosh M
