With only a few weeks to go for Nadigar Sangam elections, Nasser's camp has got a shot in the arm with Kamal Haasan lending his support to him. This has also turned out to be a setback for Sarath Kumar.

Kamal Haasan is the latest actor to have joined the rival group of Sarath Kumar. The Universal Star on Thursday, 1 October, lent his support to Nasser's candidature for the guild's President post.

Thanking Kamal Haasan for the support, Vishal has said that he is grateful to the Universal Star for standing up for a cause.

Nasser is backed by Vishal, Karthi, Ponvannan and Karunas, who have formed a group called Pandavar Ani to take on incumbent Sarath Kumar's administration. So far, they have managed to get the support from Arya, Suriya, Khushboo Sundar and many others, who want a change in the ruling administration.

On Friday, 2 October, Pandavar Ani will display their strength with a meeting at Rajinikanth's Raghavendra Mandapam at Kodambakkam, Chennai. They are also going to release the manifesto for the election.

Never in the history of Kollywood, Nadigar Sangam elections has witnessed so much drama. This time with young men jumping into the fray, the polls have turned to be a closely contested one.

Sarath Kumar has been the unanimous choice for the President's post in the last three terms. Radha Ravi, who is the Secretary of Nadigar Sangam, and many others have been elected unopposed since 2006. However, dissent started brewing with the members of the association after the present administration had a deal with SPI Cinemas to lease out the association's property.

The elections, which are held every three years, will be held on 18 October under the supervision of former High Court judge, Justice E. Padmanabhan.
