Vijay Sethupathi and Nayantara starrer "Naanum Rowdy Thaan" or "Nanum Rowdydhaan" has received an overwhelming response from the Tamil audience. As a result, the movie made a superb business in its first weekend.

As per trade tracker Sreedhar Pillai, "Naanum Rowdy Thaan" collected Rs 9.5 crore at the Tamil Nadu box office in its five-day first weekend. He posted, "#NanumRowdyThaan is a runaway super hit , grosses 9.5 Cr from TN during Pooja weekend Oct 21-25. Excellent."

In the first two days, "Naanum Rowdy Thaan" did not get bigger screens due to "10 Endrathukulla". But, as the Vikram and Samantha starrer got mixed reviews, "Naanum Rowdy Thaan" began getting more screens.

A couple of big theatres replaced "10 Endrathukulla" with "Naanum Rowdy Thaan" on Saturday. Pilliai wrote, "#10Endrathukkula at 1 CBO due to initial bigger screens & more shows than #NRD. But outside Chennai bigger screens shifted to NRD from Sat."

"Naanum Rowdy Thaan" will have a dream run in theatres for the next two weeks, till Diwali releases hit the screens, adds Sreedhar Pillai. The movie has been written and directed by Vignesh Shivan. It is an emotional-comedy flick, which has impressed the youths.

Meanwhile, "Naanum Rowdy Thaan" has performed well at the Chennai box office too. The flick has raked in Rs 1.44 crore in its first weekend. But it was beaten by "10 Endrathukulla", which made a business of Rs 1.65 crore.

With this movie, Vijay Sethupathi has returned to the form. Looking at the response, the traders say that this movie might probably become his best movie at the box office.

It should also be noted that this is the third consecutive movie for Nayantara after "Thani Oruvan" and "Maya" that became a hit at the box office.
