A rather shocking state of events has jolted Mumbaikars and the Bollywood industry, as self-styled film critic Kamaal R Khan, popularly known as KRK, was arrested for allegedly firing four rounds at a residential building in Andheri where writer-director Neeraj Kumar Mishra lives. Mumbai Police arrested Kamaal R Khan for firing a gun inside a residential complex.
Khan was detained at his studio on Friday night and was formally arrested after questioning by a Mumbai Police team.
According to the police, the incident occurred on January 18, when two bullets were fired at Nalanda Society in the Oshiwara area of Andheri. During the investigation, one bullet was found on the second floor of the building, while another was recovered from the fourth floor.
During interrogation, he admitted to firing the shots on January 18 , which is last week, using his licensed firearm. Police have recovered the weapon used in the incident.
"He has been arrested under the Arms Act, and an investigation is underway to determine the reason behind the firing," said Dikshit Gedam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 9), confirming the development.
One of the flats is owned by a writer-director, while the other belongs to a model, according to police.
Investigators initially made little progress as CCTV footage from the area did not provide any leads. However, forensic analysis later suggested that the bullets may have been fired from Khan's nearby bungalow, an official added.

The exact motive behind the firing is yet to be ascertained.
A case has been registered against the actor under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, police said.
Suspecting something amiss, residents discussed the incident among themselves and later approached the police. Oshiwara police arrived at the spot and, after verification, registered a case against an unknown person. Prima facie, police said, the flat owners did not appear to have any personal or professional enmity with anyone.
