This year's MTV video music awards had quite a number of celebrities who decided to take risks with their wardrobe for the sake of fashion. Sheer was the trend this time around and quite a few celebrities rocked the flimsy material, but one misstep could have resulted in a major wardrobe malfunction.
For instance, Kim Kardashian was dressed in a completely sheer dress which gave everyone an eyeful. The "Keeping up with the Kardashians" star seemed to have ditched her underwear, and her bold look has certainly caused a lot of chatter online.
While many have praised the reality show star for rocking the beach hair and bronzed makeup, a few believe a lengthy dress could have improved her overall look. "I'm feeling Kim Kardashian's hair butttttttt, this dress I wish it was a little longer at the bottom it'd be cute," noted one fan on Twitter. Another echoed similar sentiments, writing: "Those black strings hangin' down front on her hideously ugly dress look like she's losin' her tampon! #KimKardashian."
Speaking to Daily Mail about Kardashian's look, her make up artist Mario Dedivanovic said that he was looking for a Greek goddess vibe. "It wasn't a classic Kim look," he told the media outlet. "We used a lot less product than we normally do. I just came back from being in Hawaii for two weeks, and I was inspired by all the bronzed girls there who looked so dewy and natural. So we went with this Greek goddess vibe with kind of a Mediterranean feel."
Another celebrity who risked wardrobe malfunction was singer Nicki Minaj, who made it obvious that she too was going commando. She was dressed in a blue Bao Tranchi cut-out gown that flaunted her curves and the sheer detailing on the sides of her dress revealed that she too had forgone her undergarments.

Singer Halsey was another celebrity who was on the sheer bandwagon. She was dressed in a sheer jumpsuit that had heavy beading. But it did nothing to hide the fact that she had ditched her bra. Her nipples were on show, but her nude thongs prevented other graphic exposure. Later, during her performance with The Chainsmokers, she exposed her ample underboobs in a crop top.
The singer spoke about her boob flash in a Snapchat video, saying: "My outfit is covered in crystals, I decided to be nips out for Harambe today."
