Box office collection: MS Dhoni-The Untold Story becomes 2nd highest grosser after SultanTwitter

MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, which has been witnessing a terrific run at the box office, has achieved another milestone. The film starring Sushant Singh Rajput has become the second highest grosser of 2016.

MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has collected Rs 129.15 crore at the box office after three weeks of successful run, Bollywood Hungama reported.

Salman Khan's Sultan continues to be the highest grosser of the year with Rs 302.5 crore in its kitty. Sushant-starrer has surpassed Airlift, the lifetime collection record of which stands at Rs 129 crore. The fourth and fifth highest grosser of 2016 are Rustom with a lifetime collection of Rs 128 crore and Housefull 3 with Rs 109 crore.

The Neeraj Pandey directorial has already broken several records. The film has one more week to make money before Ajay Devgn's Shivaay and Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil take over from October 28. The film is expected to make another Rs 2-2.5 crore before the big ticket releases.

Sushant's splendid performance as cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni has also made many to throng into the theatres. MS Dhoni: The Untold Story is about the journey of Dhoni from working as a ticket collector to becoming the captain of the Indian cricket team. Produced by Arun Pandey and Fox Star studios, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story also stars Kiara Advani as Sakshi Dhoni, and Disha Patani and Anupam Kher in other key roles.
