Lenovo-owned Motorola has finally announced the roll out of Android 7.1.1 Nougat update to its Moto X Play devices after months of anticipation. The device is getting the latest version of the OS and not the 7.0 Nougat version. The announcement came after handsets from X-series like the Moto X Style aka Moto X Pure Edition, and Moto X Force got the new firmware.
"We are excited to announce a new software update for Moto X Play. This update brings important improvements to your phone," said Motorola in a statement. It added that one cannot downgrade to a previous software version after installing the latest operating system.
Android 7.1.1 Nougat update will bring many enhancements, including new multi-tasking features, better notification controls, improved data saver, battery enhancement, video calling, stability and security patches till May 1.
How to install Android 7.1.1 Nougat update on Moto X Play:
- You will receive software update notification
- Select "Yes, I'm in".
- Select "Install now" after the firmware is downloaded
- Your phone will re-start automatically after the firmware is installed
- Your phone is now updated to Android 7.1.1 Nougat
You can also manually check availability of the new software by going to – 'Settings' >> 'About phone' >> 'System updates' >> 'Check For Update'.
Make sure your phone battery is at least charged 50 percent and has Wi-Fi connection before installing the new firmware.
It may be mentioned that Motorola has already rolled out Android Nougat update to almost all its popular devices, including Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus, Moto Z, Moto Z Force, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Droid Force, Moto Z Play, Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen) aha Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force and Droid Turbo 2. However, it is yet to roll out the firmware to the Moto G4 Play. When will it happen?
The Lenovo-owned company is yet to announce Android 7.1.1 Nougat update schedule for the Moto G4 Play but it is expected to happen in the next few weeks, at least before the end of June.
