The budget variant of Motorola's fourth generation Moto G series, Moto G4 Play, might soon set foot in India, if a new report is to be believed.

Technology blog, MotoG3 has stumbled upon the import manifest of the Moto G4 Play on Zauba.com, an Indian based logistic company website. As per the manifest, 14 Motorola devices bearing XT-1607 model number have been imported from the U.S. to New Delhi and we believe that the company will be using them for compatibility test with the Indian cellular network.

Compared to the U.S., China and other developed markets, India's telecommunication network (2G, 3G and 4G) is a bit different; the network spectrum is regulated by the government. This disparity had previously forced some companies to release only 3G models in the subcontinent.

Once done with testing, they will need to receive the necessary certification from the government-run telecommunication agencies and then launch the device in the country.

Another interesting thing we noticed in the Moto G4 Play import manifest is that each unit will cost Rs. 6,804. However, this is not likely to be the final price, as the devices imported will be liable to pay import duties and this may escalate the price by at least Rs. 1500 or Rs. 2000.

If the sources of the MotoG3 are to be believed, Moto G4 Play will be retailed for Rs, 8.999 in India. This seems believable considering the hardware it features.

Once the Moto G4 Play (Rs. 8,999) get launched, Motorola will have four Moto G4 series phones -- Moto G4 (Rs. 12,499), Moto G4 Plus -- 2GB RAM+ 16GB storage ( Rs. 13,499) and 3GB RAM + 32GB storage (Rs. 14,999) -- to cater to consumers in different price segments.

So far, Motorola has not made any official comment on the rumours of Moto G4 Play India release. Watch this space for more updates.

For the uninitiated, Moto G4 Play sports a smaller 5.0-inch screen with HD (1280x720p) resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, 8MP primary camera, 5MP front snapper and a 2800mAh battery.
