Motorola started teasing a mystery phone with a long battery life last weekend. It has now been officially revealed that the company will soon launch the most affordable Moto G series phone, dubbed as the Moto G4 Play, in India.
The company also confirmed the new phone will be on sale on Sept. 6 exclusively on Amazon India.
Moto G4 Play was originally unveiled along with the original Moto G4 and the top-end variant, the G4 Plus, in May, but it was limited to the U.S. market until now.
It is a watered down version of the generic Moto G4 model. The key difference between the two is that the former comes with smaller 5.0-inch screen with HD (1280x720p) resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core CPU, 8MP primary camera and a 2800mAh battery. The latter, on the other hand, features a 5.5-inch full HD (1920x1080p) display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor, 13MP camera on the rear and a 3000mAh battery. The other key specifications, such as RAM capacity, mobile OS, and the front camera, remain the same.
Word on the street is that the Moto G4 Play may come with a price-tag of Rs. 8,999.
Once the Moto G4 Play gets launched, Motorola will have four Moto G4 series phones, the others being the Moto G4 (Rs. 12,499), the Moto G4 Plus with 2GB RAM+ 16GB storage ( Rs. 13,499) and with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage (Rs. 14,999), to cater to consumers in different price segments.
