Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hoped that the second half of the budget session of parliament would be "as productive and successful as the previous one".
Modi told reporters that "some unprecedented decisions" were made after many years in a parliament session.
The first half of the budget session "was successful because of the cooperation from all political parties," he said, thanking them for their support in helping constructive debate take place in parliament.
Before going inside the Lok Sabha, the prime minister hoped that the second half, which began on Monday, "would also be successful where lots of meaningful debates would take place and good decisions would be taken" in the interest of the country.
Earlier, Modi said he looked forward to the "productive session".
"Parliament session begins today (Monday). I look forward to a productive session, filled with constructive debates on several issues," he tweeted.
While the Lok Sabha, the lower house, meets on Monday, the Rajya Sabha, the upper house, will meet on April 23.
The Lok Sabha session is expected to conclude on May 8. The Rajya Sabha will meet till May 13.
Both the houses will have 13 sittings each.
