After a humiliating loss back in September at the hand of Mickey Gall in the first round of his UFC debut, a lot of people expected CM Punk to give up on his UFC dreams. But recent reports are emerging that the former pro wrestler is confident that he will get another chance to impress inside the octagon.
"I don't want to speak for him, but I think if he (Dana White) wants to kill it, he would have killed it right then, until anything is official, I don't want to say either way what he's thinking or what he's thinking. But yeah, I'm pretty confident that it'll be in the UFC" MMA Fighting quoted Punk as saying.
Duke Roufus, who has been training CM Punk ever since he quit the WWE, is hopeful that he gets another shot at the UFC. He feels he has the potential to succeed in this sport. He also mentioned that ever since his loss against Gall, CM Punk has been training harder than ever and has improved a lot since then.
"It's great, personalities drive this sport. He's going to get better. Obviously, he didn't perform the way we wanted to perform. We had some things he was doing really well with, he just didn't happen. It's just going to take time. But the great thing is he has an incredible attitude, and he's very thankful for the opportunities. He's getting better, he's back in training," Roufus was quoted as saying.
Mickey Gall, who handed CM Punk his debut loss in the UFC, feels that he should not fight in the UFC anymore. "I respect that, I don't know – it's not my place to say. I don't know if he should be fighting in the UFC. I think he probably should've fought elsewhere first. But I respect that he wants to get back at it and go for it, so hats off to him" Gall said.
Another rumour that popped recently was that the WWE were interested in getting CM Punk back for Wrestlemania 33 but there has been no official confirmation of this news. After Punk's initial loss UFC President stated that CM Punk will probably not fight in the UFC again but it looks like he might get one final chance to show his MMA skills. CM Punk said in an interview that an official announcement about his UFC career could happen in the next few weeks.
