Delih police have rescued a 15-year-old girl, who was reportedly abducted, gang-raped and forced into prostitution. The minor, a student of class 9, was rescued nine months after she was kidnapped, Press Trust of India reported.

In October last year, the victim's male friend reportedly kidnapped her from Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin area. Following her abduction, her parents approached police but were unable to trace her. It was only after nine months when the victim called her mother and revealed details of the incident.

Her mother then told police about the phone call who tracked the number to West Bengal's Darjeeling town.

On 6 August, a police team was sent to Darjeeling and after a three-day investigation they rescued the girl on 9 August.

From Darjeeling she was brought to Delhi where she was reunited with her family, PTI quoted a senior official as saying.

The official also said that a woman named Noorjahan, who bought the girl for 8 lakh, was arrested on charges of human trafficking.

"Noorjahan had a wide network in Delhi, Mumbai and West Bengal and was planning to sell the girl to a client in Saudi Arabia," PTI quoted sources as saying.

The girl told police she was abducted last year from outside her house. She was kept in confinement in several locations in the national capital and NCR region. She was beaten up on a regular basis and was gang-raped.

The kidnappers later sold her to a woman in Delhi who was running an inter-state prostitution racket. She was later sold to Noorjahan for ₹8 lakh.
