A mid-air brawl took place on a GOL flight from Belem in Brazil to Brasilia after a woman alleged that a man ejaculated on her while she was asleep. The incident took place after the flight took off.

The female passenger began shouting when the 51-year-old suspect allegedly tried to put the woman's hand on his genitals.

"I fell asleep as soon as the plane took off. Half an hour later I woke up when the man beside me started pulling on my hand. To my horror, I realised he was trying to put my hand on his genitals. I then realised my legs and lap was stained," the 32-year-old businesswoman was quoted by the Mirror as telling the police.

She also claimed that the man's hands were dirty and she could smell sperm. Soon after the woman began shouting, a clash broke out midair. According to numerous reports by UK news outlets, fellow passengers tried to attack the suspect.

When asked, the suspect claimed he was "drowsy and started coughing and accidentally spat on the victim". He told the police, "I spat [on the victim] during a coughing fit, and it hit the woman beside me. The woman became angry and started hitting out at me."

Bringing the situation under control, the aircrew reportedly moved the man to a seat at the back of the flight while the alleged victim was seated in the front.

Reacting to the onboard situation, GOL airlines released a statement condemning the incident.

"We strongly condemn the violence that occurred on Friday morning. We are looking for ways to ban the passenger. The crew acted immediately, immobilising the aggressor and the captain informed federal police of the incident. On landing, the aircraft's doors were kept shut until officers arrived," the statement read. The accused has denied charges against him and is expected to face trial.
